BRAZILIAN VERSION OF THE GENERAL DECISION-MAKING STYLE INVENTORY - GDMS: TRANSLATION, ADAPTATION AND VALIDATION

ABSTRACT

Individuals always make decisions, whether simple or complex, fast or slowly, depending on the small or large availability of information, of a unique or constant nature, among other aspects. Seeking to understand the logic behind people's decision-making process, several models have been proposed by scholars. The present study aims to carry out the translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and validation for the Brazilian context of the General Decision-Making Styles Inventory - GDMS. To this end, the instrument underwent six stages of translation and adaptation. Then, after carrying out the pre-test, the final version of the instrument was applied in a pilot study with a sample of 250 individuals. Thus, based on the data found, an exploratory factor analysis was carried out, to validate the final version of the questionnaire. Finally, it was concluded that the model proposed in this study proved to be adequate for the investigation of the construct individual decision-making styles, presenting appropriate validity and reliability indices. This scale can also be used in new research in Administration and the like, expanding the knowledge on the subject.
