FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ADOPTION OF TECHNOLOGY IN THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR

This article aimed to investigate the factors associated with the adoption of technology in the agricultural sector. Eighteen articles were selected for the systematic review. The analysis made it possible to group the technologies used on rural properties in the categories of automation and computerization, weed and pest control, and those that promote Sustainable Intensification (SI). The results show that the main factors that contribute to the process of technology adoption in the agricultural sector are related to the participation of rural producers in collective organizations, the producer's education level, access to technical assistance services and credit, the presence of technological equipment on the rural property, and its size. A conceptual framework that associates the technology adoption process in the agricultural sector with a multidimensional and complex phenomenon was elaborated. This suggests the need for the development of educational and sector-specific public policies, such as encouraging the establishment of both formal and informal collective organizations, providing technical assistance, and the access to credit in order to promote the diffusion of technology in countries.
