IMPLANTAÇÃO DA ISO 14001:2004: ESTUDO DE CASO DE UMA INDÚSTRIA DE PAPEL DA REGIÃO CENTRO-SUL DO PARANÁ

ABSTRACT

It is a challenge for organizations to combine the needs of business to the environment´s. The environmental management systems certified by NBR ISO 14001:2004 exist to facilitate this process, as well as provide positive visibility of organizations. However, to acquire such certification, requires the attendance of several demanding and the development of eco-innovation strategies. Under such focus, this research has raised the following questions: how the paper industry has met the requirements of NBR ISO 14001:2004? Which eco-innovation strategies were carried out for industry to conquer the certification? The main objective was to identify and analyze the actions undertaken for the implementation of ISO 14001:2004 certification in a paper industry of the Center-South region of Paraná. For this we used the methodology of case study, in the context of a qualitative approach, through interviews, observation and documentary research, and this information were analyzed. The main results indicate that this industry has met the requirements satisfactorily, demonstrating its ability to conform to the standard. We also observed that eco-innovation strategies developed contributed to the conquer of certification, which required the company to adopt a process of innovation able to subsidize the attendance of key requirements of environmental management.
