Reports were taken by the authors from patients who undergone cardiac surgery about the psycologic preparation they received in the pré-operative period as well as during the ¡medíate post-operativs period (in the Intensive Care Unit). The critical analysis of this material is made with the purpose to show the nurses the importance of the adequate pré-operative preparation of the patients undergoing cardiac surgery some suggestions to minimize the aprehensión (stress) showed bi the patients during the treatment (surgery and post op period).
