This article describes the use of the photography for data collection in an ethnographic research. This study aims to understand the women's perception related to the hospital where they were supposed to give birth. These women were invited to take pictures of the hospital. After developing the pictures, the researcher appointed interviews and the pictures gave voice to them. The women pointed out positive and negative aspects related to the hospital, that were the reasons for their anxiety and stress. The use of photography allowed to dispel the myth of the factors that influence on the birth process.
