The present paper reports the experience of a nurse who starts a process for recuperating the social benefits of a group of intern patients in the Psychiatry Institute of Santa Catarina in São José (SC). Many of the social benefits were taken away from these patients without their approval, and were spent, most of the time, by their legal curators.
