This essay deals with an analysis of the process of production of the research on nursing in Brazil, having as basic source of data the catalogues of theses published by the Center of Studies and Researches on Nursing (Centro de Estudos e Pesquisas em Enfermagem - (CEPEn). It has an introductory part, were the main philosophical currents are shown. These currents serve as basis for the several scientific methods of interpretation, existent in the area of health and were the concept of ideology is discussed. That introduction establishes the central discussion referring to the philosophical-ideological characteristics of the above mentioned production of the Brazilian nursing.
