This study was conducted by teachers and students from EEAN/UFRJ with 284 fire fighters in a fire house in Rio de Janeiro City. After the observation of the ambiance and of the simplified health exam of the fire fighters, the data was treated statistically, and a simplified health diagnostic was elaborated, based on the criteria of magnitude, transcendency and vulnerability. The implementing actions in the pratical field have been supported by theory and praxis. The total number of hours spent in all the activities was 144 hours. The assistance process was developed with a perspective of applying the scientific method and of the professional obligations in contributing to the improvement of the population health
