Resumos

Causas e tipos de incontinência urinária do idoso são revistas. A enfermeira tem um papel fundamental na assistência de enfermagem visando à deteção, avaliação e orientação do problema do idoso incontinente, contribuindo de maneira relevante para promover a continência da população idosa que vive na comunidade.

Causes and types of urinary incontinense in the elderly are reviewed. The central role af the nurse is emphasized, aiming the detection, evaluation and management of the incontinent elderly. In this way, nursing care contributes towards promoting urinary continence of the older persons living in the community.
