What do we know about interventions with perpetrators of domestic and family violence?

Abstract:

Internationally, there has been a growing understanding that to prevent gender-based violence it is necessary to work with and involve men. After the promulgation of Law 11340 of 2006, which brought legal provision for interventions with the perpetrators of domestic and family violence in Brazil, academic debate has advanced significantly. However, the topic needs to be critically reviewed, in order to articulate the national studies. Given this framework, the purpose of this article is to analyze national academic production on the subject from the specialized literature and national reports. The results suggest the possibility of transformations in relationships; however, it brings to light weaknesses in the structure of the policies to combat violence.
