Este texto discute as tensões em torno da legitimidade dos sujeitos políticos feministas brasileiros, na interface com as noções de democracia e autonomia. Para tanto, realiza sua análise em consonância com dados da etnografia do 10º Encontro Feminista Latino-Americano e do Caribe, realizado em 2005, em São Paulo. Esse espaço é tido como importante seara de constituição dos pensamentos e ações do movimento feminista no Brasil e na América Latina.

This article discusses the tensions surrounding the legitimacy of the Brazilian feminist political subjects in the interface with the concepts of democracy and autonomy. The study adopts an ethnography perspective to analyze the 10th Latin American and Caribbean Feminist Meeting, held in São Paulo in 2005, an important space for the constitution of the thoughts and actions of the feminist movement in Brazil and Latin America.

España tuvo la Presidencia de la Unión Europea durante el primer semestre del año 2010. En ese tiempo, el gobierno, a través de su Ministerio de Igualdad y de manera transversal con otros organismos e instituciones, convirtió las políticas de igualdad en una de sus metas. Entre ellas, sobre todo, la lucha a nivel europeo contra la violencia de género, la trata de blancas y la búsqueda de esa igualdad real y no formal que aparece en Europa desde prácticamente sus primeros Tratados. En este artículo se pretende analizar en qué momento nos encontramos tanto en Europa como en España, sobre todo, a través del Plan de Trabajo 2006-2010 y de las últimas decisiones adoptadas por la Unión. El objetivo es ver si se ha llegado a conseguir algo, a implementar alguna decisión y a concretar medidas para luchar contra estas desigualdades que siguen existiendo.

Spain held the EU Presidency for the first semester of 2010. During that period, the Spanish government made of gender equality policies one of its priorities. The Ministry of Equality was the main actor in this field, working in a transversal way with other bodies and institutions. Therefore, combating gender violence and human slavery for sexual exploitation at a European level became some of its main goals. This was also the case of the search for real gender equality, in contrast with the formal equality that we can find already in the first Treaties of the EEC. This article intends to assess the current situation, both in Europe and in Spain. The assessment will be carried out focusing mainly on the Work Plan 2006-2010 and on the last decisions as adopted by the EU. The aim is to check whether something has been achieved, whether any decision has been implemented, as well as to specify which measures should be taken, in order to fight against the inequalities that still exist.

Neste artigo discutimos as mudanças representadas pela entrada de mulheres no trabalho fabril numa região de industrialização recente, buscando verificar em que medida essa inserção, em um contexto de crise do emprego e em uma região marcada pela informalidade de parte significativa das atividades econômicas, tem influenciado a redefinição dos papéis familiares e acentuado conflitos geradores de violência doméstica. Foram realizadas entrevistas com 14 mulheres que denunciaram algum tipo de violência praticada por seus maridos ou companheiros na Delegacia Regional da Mulher, no município de Crato, CE. Os dados obtidos apontam, entre outros aspectos, que a entrada das mulheres na esfera pública e a autonomia financeira, propiciadas pelo trabalho fabril, tendem a provocar mudanças nos tradicionais papéis de gênero, cujas consequências tem se expressado no questionamento do lugar do homem como provedor, nos rompimentos do grupo familiar e violência doméstica contra as trabalhadoras.

In this article, we will argue about the changes represented by the entrance of women in the factory work in a region of recent industrialization, aiming at verifying to which extent such insertion, in a context of employment crisis in a region marked by informal labor activities, has influenced the redefinition of the family roles and increased conflicts that cause domestic violence. A group of 14 women workers that denounced the domestic violence in Crato City, Ceará State, was observed. We intend to recoup the changes perceived by these workers in its life of work and its ordinary life. The women entrance in the public sphere tends to pressure for changes in the traditional roles of gender with distinct gradations, since adjustments in the domestic life until disruption of the family group.

En este trabajo establecemos una comparación según género entre los avances obtenidos en los diferentes niveles educacionales y la persistente brecha en el grado de participación laboral en México, en el período 2000-2005. Asimismo, analizamos las diferencias regionales en la evolución de los siguientes indicadores: años promedio de escolarización y población ocupada. Mediante un modelo econométrico de datos de panel para las 32 entidades federativas mexicanas, constatamos el impacto positivo que ejerce la educación sobre la ocupación laboral.

In this paper we establish a comparison by gender between the progress achieved in the different educational levels and the persistent gap in the degree of labour participation in Mexico, during 2000 and 2005. Likewise, we analyze the regional differences in the evolution of the following indicators: the average years of schooling, and the working population. By means of an econometric model of panel data for 32 Mexican regions, we are able to establish that education exert a positive impact on the working population.

En las últimas décadas se ha producido un creciente desarrollo de las producciones científicas desde una perspectiva feminista o de género sobre temáticas migratorias. Este artículo pretende incluirse en esta tradición a la vez que se plantean las especificidades que generan este tipo de estudios en las sociedades latinoamericanas. Puntualmente, en el artículo se presentan algunas reflexiones sobre las producciones de sentidos que mujeres y varones bolivianas/os inmigrantes en Argentina (Ushuaia) realizan sobre sus trayectorias migratorias. Proponemos una tipología de las trayectorias migratorias para describir y comprender los diferentes sentidos que migrar tiene para estas mujeres y varones. Este mismo trabajo de análisis nos servirá como base para discutir dicotomías clásicas presentes en estudios y políticas migratorias, tales como reunificación familiar vs. migración laboral, migración racional vs. migración afectiva y migración asociativa vs. migración autónoma.

There has been a growing development of scientific works on migratory issues from a feminist or gender perspective in the last decades. This article intends to be included in this tradition as it exposes the specificities that generate this type of studies in Latin American societies. Precisely, the article presents some reflections on how Bolivian women and men immigrants in Argentina (Ushuaia) understand their migratory trajectories. We propose a typology of the migratory trajectories to describe and understand the distinct perceptions of migration for these women and men. This work will also serve as a basis for the discussion of the classic dichotomies existing in migratory studies and policies, as family reunification x labor migration, rational migration x affection migration and associative migration x autonomous migration.

A cultura infantil está cada vez mais permeada por um cotidiano generificado, isto é, a maior parte dos processos e produtos culturais possui conteúdos nos quais a questão de gênero é tratada, insistentemente, de forma binária e, consequentemente, excludente. O objetivo deste trabalho, assim, foi estudar o teatro infantil de Marcelo Romagnoli e da Banda Mirim, cujas peças possuem uma proposta de desmontar e questionar os estereótipos que dicotomizam a vida de meninos e meninas. Assistindo às encenações de Felizardo e de O menino Teresa, e analisando o conteúdo dos textos das peças, concluiu-se que as personagens propõem um modelo para meninas e meninos que está na contramão da cultura padronizada e oficial, estimulando novas relações sociais de gênero entre as crianças, contribuindo desse modo para a consecução dos "objetivos do milênio" propostos pela ONU e encampados pelo Brasil, sobretudo no que tange à igualdade entre os sexos.

Child culture is increasingly more permeated by a gendered quotidian, i.e., most of the cultural processes and products portray content where the gender issue is insistently treated in a binary form and, consequently, excluding. The purpose of this paper, therefore, was to study Marcelo Romagnoli's children's theater and the Children's Band (Banda Mirim), whose plays are designed to take apart and question the stereotypes that dichotomize boys´ and girls´ lives. Watching the staging of Felizardo and O menino Teresa and analyzing the context of the texts, it was found that the characters propose a model for boys and girls that goes against the standard and official culture, encouraging new gender social relations among children, contributing, therefore, to the achievement of the "goals of the millennium" as proposed by the UN and adopted by Brazil, especially as equality between the sexes is regarded.

El artículo expone algunos resultados de un estudio cualitativo acerca de significados asociados a la sexualidad y prácticas de negociación sexual en mujeres y hombres de nivel socioeconómico bajo de la ciudad de Santiago de Chile. Los resultados son analizados a la luz de las permanencias y transformaciones en las desigualdades de género. Pese a la existencia de discursos más igualitarios en relación a la sexualidad y a las relaciones de pareja, los que prescriben la autonomía individual, la negociación interindividual y la satisfacción sexual mutua como fuente de bienestar de la relación, se evidencia la persistencia de otros más tradicionales, los que reflejan una concepción de la sexualidad masculina como ilimitada y de la femenina como más controlada, manteniendo la idea de que hombres y mujeres son esencialmente diferentes. Frente a esto, el no hablar y el ceder fueron descritas como las principales prácticas ante las discordancias en materia sexual. Se discute el concepto de negociación sexual verbal, sugiriendo que se trata más bien de un ajuste implícito de significados, el que no siempre implica el reconocimiento de las necesidades del otro, sino que muchas veces conlleva la postergación de uno de los miembros de la pareja, generalmente de la mujer, en pos del nuevo estatus de la sexualidad en la mantención de la relación.

This article exposes some of the results of a qualitative study on meanings associated to sexuality and sexual negotiation practices among low-income level men and women of Santiago. The results are analyzed under the light of the permanence and transformations in existing gender inequalities among interviewed discourses. Despite the presence of more egalitarian discourses related to sexuality and couple relationships, which prescribe individual autonomy, inter-individual negotiation and mutual sexual satisfaction as a source of well-being of couple relationship, the persistence of more traditional discourses became evident, which reflects a conception of male sexuality as unlimited and the female sexuality as more controlled, maintaining the idea that men and women are essentially different. In this aspect, the silence or submittal were described as the major practices before discrepancies in sexual matters. We discuss the concept of verbal sexual negotiation, suggesting that it would be more an adjustment of meanings, which does not always imply recognition of the needs of the other, but many times a deferral from one member of the couple, generally the woman, in pursuit of the new status of sexuality in the maintenance of the relationship.

Este artigo aborda as modalidades de intencionalidade da paternidade construídas por mulheres e homens que realizaram testes de DNA ordenados por tribunais, em Portugal, para apuramento da paternidade biológica de crianças sem 'pai oficial'. Partindo de uma perspectiva feminista, analisa-se o impacto das ideologias de género na mediação da intenção de desempenhar o papel de pai, na negociação de relações de parentesco e nos processos sociais e morais de classificação e hierarquização dos indivíduos. Conclui-se que a incorporação do conhecimento do resultado do teste de DNA nas práticas quotidianas de homens e mulheres constitui uma co-produção complexa entre as relações sociais de género, a cultura, a tecnologia e o sistema jurídico.

This article focuses on the modes of intentionality of paternity constructed by women and men who went through the process of DNA paternity testing by a court order, in Portugal, in the context of paternity investigations of children without an "official father". Drawing from a feminist perspective, we analyse the impact of gender ideologies on the mediation of the intention to perform the role of the father, the negotiation of kinship relations and the social and moral processes of individuals' classification and hierarchization. We conclude that the incorporation of the knowledge ensuing from the result of the DNA test in the daily practices of men and women constitutes a complex co-construction between social relations of gender, culture, technology and law.

Este artigo discute a dinâmica esportiva de comunidades mexicanas nos Estados Unidos no contexto do futebol. A partir da análise de grupos mexicanos que imigraram para o território americano e de suas práticas futebolísticas (de resistência), esta pesquisa se questiona se estaríamos presenciando uma "latino-americanização" esportiva dos EUA através do futebol. Como contrarresposta a uma homogeneização e subordinação, os mexicanos-americanos (e, por extensão, os latinos em geral) criaram novas práticas culturais (e, dentre elas, as práticas esportivas) que amalgamam tradições mexicanas com valores da sociedade estadunidense, constituindo, assim, um terceiro espaço (a third space) que transpõe as fronteiras de ambos os Estados nacionais. O presente artigo, portanto, analisa por que um crescente número de imigrantes reforça as relações com suas comunidades de origem no México através da (re)criação de um universo futebolístico próprio, expressando, com isso, uma "mexicanidade transnacional" que não é "harmônica", mas é marcada por linhas de conflito. Nessa "nova mexicanidade" manifestam-se conflitos de gênero, de classe e étnicos, locais e nacionais, que se dão simultaneamente nos EUA e no México, e que se influenciam mutuamente.

This article discusses the sport dynamics of the Mexican communities in the United States in the context of soccer. From the analysis of Mexican groups which immigrated to the American territory, and from their soccer practices (of resistance), this research questions whether we would be witnessing a sportive "latinoamericanization" of the U.S. through the soccer practices. As a counter-response to a homogenization and subordination, the Mexican Americans (and, by extension, the Latinos in general) have created new cultural practices (and, among them sportive ones) that put together Mexican traditions with American values of society constituting, in that way, "a third space", which extends beyond the borders of both national States. This paper, therefore, examines why a growing number of migrants strengthens relationships with their communities of origin in Mexico through the (re)creation of a soccer world itself, expressing thereby a "transnational mexicanity", which is not "harmonic" by itself, but marked by conflicts. In this "new mexicanities" gender, class and ethnic, national and local conflicts - which occur simultaneously in the U.S. and Mexico, influencing each other - appear.

Este artigo busca articular, a partir de uma perspectiva antropológica, a dimensão corporal das práticas esportivas e alguns aspectos de sua generificação. A partir da noção maussiana de "técnica corporal", enfatizamos a dimensão cultural na racionalização, valorização e legitimação de determinadas técnicas corporais aplicadas ao esporte (tomando como exemplo o universo das artes marciais) e de que maneira essas técnicas racionalizam, valorizam e legitimam posições de gênero, no caso, de identidade masculina.

This paper wishes to address, through an anthropological perspective, the corporal dimension of sporting practices and some features of its genderization. Departing from Marcel Mauss' notion of 'body technique', we emphasize the cultural dimension on the rationalization, valorization d legitimacy of certain body techniques applied to sports (taking as an example the universe of martial arts), and in which way such techniques rationalize, value and legitimate gendered positions, in this case, of masculine identity.

O presente trabalho relata aspectos de uma etnografia realizada em um dojo de caratê, cujo objetivo foi pesquisar a produção e as relações com dor e sofrimento corporal aliadas a afirmações de masculinidade. Não tratamos aqui dos resultados da pesquisa, mas do percurso, das questões que deram forma a ela, considerando uma especificidade: a responsável pelo trabalho de campo é carateca desse dojo e seu movimento de respeitada faixa preta para pesquisadora produziu novas formas de desafio naquele espaço. Problematizamos essa questão tentando demonstrar as dificuldades desse embate que combina um conflito de gênero com a conciliação possível da condição do/a pesquisador/a em relação ao campo do qual faz parte e no qual, inevitavelmente, se conflagra.

This work reports aspects of an ethnography carried out at a karate dojo. The aim of the investigation was to observe the production and the relationship between the pain and body suffering and the affirmation of masculinity. We do not discuss here the results of the research, but the issues involved in its construction, considering a specificity: the responsible for this field work is a fighter of that dojo, and her movement from a respected black belt karate fighter to a researcher produced new forms of challenges in that space. We problematize the question, trying to show the difficulties in the debate which combines a gender conflict with the probable conciliation between the condition of researcher and the field in which he/she is involved, and with which he/she will inevitably confront.

O trabalho reafirma a importância dos estudos de gênero para a compreensão dos processos históricos contemporâneos através dos quais se deram a inserção, a permanência e a ampliação da participação das mulheres no campo esportivo brasileiro, entre os anos 1960 e 1970. Através das narrativas orais de duas atletas negras - Eliane Pereira de Souza e Aída dos Santos -, são examinadas as múltiplas intersecções do gênero com outros componentes de diferenciação social, como classe, raça/etnia e geração, fundamentais para a reconstrução das experiências que marcaram os projetos, as carreiras, as trajetórias e as memórias dessas mulheres durante a vigência da Ditadura Militar brasileira.

This investigation reaffirms the relevance of the gender studies to the understanding of the contemporary historical processes in which women appeared, remained and grew participation in Brazilian sports field between 1960 and 1970. Through the narratives of two black women athletes - Eliane Pereira de Souza e Aída dos Santos -, the multiple intersections of gender with the other components of social differentiation as class, race/ethnics and generation, fundamental for the reconstruction of the experiences that marked their projects, careers, trajectories and memories during the military dictatorship in Brazil are observed.

Desde o final do século XIX, as práticas esportivas se tornaram um terreno de lutas simbólicas e práticas intensas sobre definições de feminilidade, sobre "o que é uma mulher" e quais as atividades que um corpo marcado como feminino pode ou deve realizar. Durante mais de uma década, venho realizando pesquisa sobre a prática esportiva de mulheres no Brasil, com um olhar para o mundo equestre. Apresentarei um resumo dessas pesquisas que vêm focalizando diferentes grupos de amazonas: inicialmente, um grupo de amazonas de origem social de elite que se dedicam ao salto (hipismo clássico), num segundo momento, jovens de origem popular que lutam para inserir-se no meio muito masculino do turfe e, finalmente, uma nova fase de pesquisa que se abre para o mundo tradicional do "rodeio campeiro" e suas pioneiras. Através de depoimentos de mulheres e de trabalho de cunho etnográfico e interacionista, procuro entender como as práticas dessas mulheres fazem parte de processos de construção identitária particulares, como lidam com meios que continuam sendo predominantemente masculinos e desenvolvem, nesses contextos, estratégias de autoafirmação, individuais ou coletivas. Apesar das pressões normativas e dos obstáculos culturais e/ou materiais que encontram no caminho, identifico nas suas práticas e modos de ser elementos de desafio às formas mais convencionais de viver o corpo e a subjetividade.

As of the end of the 19th century, sporting practices became the terrain of intense symbolic and material struggles over the definition of femininity - over "what a woman is" and over what women could or should do with their bodies. For over a decade now, I have been conducting research on women in the world of equestrian sport in Brazil. This paper presents a synthesis of my research, looking at different groups of horsewomen: an initial group were women from the elite world of show jumping; a second group, women jockeys who have struggled to find a niche within the still very masculine world of the turf and finally, my most recent endeavor, a look at women who participate in the popular Brazilian milieu of the rodeo. Through collecting women's testimonies and engaging in ethnographic research employing interactionist methodologies, I seek to understand how these women construct their identities, how they deal with milieu that continue to be largely male and how, within these contexts, they develop self-affirming strategies. It is my contention that, notwithstanding the normative pressures and cultural and/or material obstacles they face, these women, through their ways of being and acting, present a challenge to conventional modes of feminine corporality/subjectivity.

Este texto analisa a relação entre a potencialização muscular e as representações de feminilidade que circulam em uma modalidade esportiva específica: o fisiculturismo. Ancora-se nos estudos culturais e em vertentes do feminismo pós-estruturalista, estabelecendo um diálogo com a teorização de Michel Foucault. As análises indicam que no esporte há um investimento para que as atletas preservem atributos culturalmente relacionados a uma representação de feminilidade normalizada. No entanto, essa recomendação não as interpela da mesma forma: algumas são capturadas por esse discurso, outras reagem e resistem indicando que uma arquitetura corporal muscularmente potencializada não estraga a mulher. Ao contrário, mostra-se como outra feminilidade, tencionando, portanto, as representações binárias de gênero.

This paper analyzes the relationship between muscle potentiation and representations of femininity involved in bodybuilding. It is anchored in cultural studies and aspects of the poststructuralist feminism establishing a dialogue with the theories of Michel Foucault. The results of the analysis indicate that there is an investment in bodybuilding so that the female athletes preserve cultural attributes related to a normalized representation of femininity. However, this recommendation does not reach all the female athletes the same way. Some of them are caught by this speech, others react and resist indicating that a muscularly potentiated body architecture does not ruin the woman. On the contrary, it is seen as another femininity which questions, therefore, the binary representations of gender.

Os guetos são espaços circunscritos e marginais nos quais, ao longo da história, minorias religiosas, sociais, étnicas e sexuais foram encapsuladas e segregadas. Atravessados por fluxos e tensões em movimento do global landscape, tais territórios devem ser revisitados sob a ótica da globalização. Com o propósito de analisar territorialidades marginais de gênero atreladas a eventos esportivos LGBT, este artigo buscou ressemantizar o conceito de gueto da "Escola de Chicago" e repensá-lo segundo novas perspectivas analíticas, aplicadas a duas competições esportivas mundiais (Gay Games e World OutGames) voltadas para o público LGBT. Percebeu-se que a ocorrência dessas competições e as expectativas em torno de "capitais ejaculantes" de corpos, sexos, desejos e sexualidades vinculados ao esporte abrem a perspectiva de que tais torneios performatizem "guetos sexualizados", isto é, espaços territorializados de práticas itinerantes de desejos, na lógica de uma circulação em escala global, de corpos e de capital.

Ghettos are marginal territories, in which ethnic, religious, social and sexual minorities were encapsulated and segregated throughout History. Crossed by flows and tensions on movement in the global landscape, such spaces should be reanalyzed under a global perspective. Aiming to reflect on marginal territories of gender linked to LGBT sports events, this article has tried to re-think the concept of the ghetto from the "Chicago School", and analyze it according to new lenses, applied to two global and specific LGBT world championships (Gay Games and World OutGames). It was noticed that the occurrence of them and the expectations around "possibilities of ejaculation" of bodies, genders, sexualities, and desires, connected to the sports' world itself, open up the perspective that such events will perform a kind of "sexualized ghettos", i.e., territorialized spaces from sexual desires' practices, in the logic of a global circulation of desires, bodies and capitals.
