The aim of this study is to systematically review the primary studies that addressed gymnastics in Physical Education graduation. In the methodological process, searches were done in databases indexing articles, theses and dissertations from descriptors in Portuguese and English. After the process of selection and automatic deletion, remained 102 studies of which six were duplicates. In the manual selection and elimination process, 10 studies that complied with the strict inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected. The implementation of gymnastics and modalities as discipline or specific content in graduation courses, despite presenting several aspects and factors that hinder their adoption, proved extremely important in the formation of future physical education professionals to work in different areas of activity, given that no investigation pointed as impossible to put into practice this implementation proposal of gymnastics.
