Sport and leisure public policies in brazil and portugal: focusing the management knowledge

This qualitative study aimed at analyzing the formulation of Public Policy for sport and leisure in Portugal and in Brazil, focusing the scientific research, from normative and political texts of these two countries. The study was conducted through documental research, concerning the analysis of official documents of both countries. Results evidenced that although all legal-normative Portuguese set was more concise than that of Brazil, in terms of the approximation between academic and political subfields, it was not possible to identify any initiative in Portugal that traced this relationship through government funding. Brazil through the Ministry of Sports actions involving Rede/CEDES and CENESP, even facing many obstacles, seems to have been innovative in trying to approach these fields in sport and leisure ambits.
