Topics, assumptions and questions in the study of and in the social intervention with international migration: reflections from Spain

The article aims to contribute to what, in our view, constitutes the "introductory" critical exercises for the theoretical approach of the study of international migrations and for social intervention which considers immigrants as subjects to perform this action. It appears important to question the major topics in relation to immigration in contemporary societies, in light of their treatment in the case of Spain. Such topics urge the constant reconsideration of the presuppositions and theoretical epistemological and political positions which they face. Immigration as a "problem" and integration as a "solution" merit a detailed analysis, engendering certain questions to which we consider necessary to attend.
