Abstract
This article presents a transcription of the news given in 1781-82 by a capitán de amigos of Maquegua to the authorities in the Chilean frontier about the new Spanish Atlantic colony of Carmen de Río Negro, based on information transmitted by huilliche Indians. As well, the knowledge they reflect about the inter-ethnic trade which took place in those years is analyzed, comparing its historiographical luck to that of the diary written by Basilio Villarino.
