FRIEND OR FOE? REPRESENTATIONS OF BRAZIL IN ARGENTINE PUBLIC DEBATE DURING THE PARAGUAYAN WAR, 1864-1870

The Paraguayan War generated an alliance between two traditional and strong enemies, the Argentinian Republic and the Brazilian Empire. In this paper I propose to analize the arguments in the Argentinian public discurse that justified that arregment and that opposed to it. I aim to show the importance of the representations of Brazil in the formation of Argentinian national identity during the war
