Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the historiography on the dictatorship of general Alfredo Stroessner (1954-1989) in Paraguay. In spite of the exceptions and changes underway, we deem that this specialized bibliography is marked by the perspective of the “lack”, i.e., the Paraguayan historic processes are analyzed from what had-supposedly-lacked to the country, disregarding its particulars, and supporting the image of Paraguay as an “isolated”, “backward” and “authoritarian” country.
