THE HERESY OF JECA TATU

Abstract

In Monteiro Lobato’s “Urupês”, author and character share the same language, notwithstanding the clash in their worldview. To understand what that clash means, with regard to the standpoint of language or the worldview, becomes crucial to the lobatian critic intended to characterize the author’s attitude towards the social life.
