Abstract
Francisco de Lemos, born in Rio de Janeiro, became one of the most important personalities of the eighteen-century Portuguese reality, especially in the teaching area and in civil and ecclesiastical administration. Close to Pombal, he has an enormous projection reaching prominent positions, mainly Rector of the University of Coimbra and Bishop. But his ability to adapt ends up allowing his career to remain in the limelight with some regularity. The objective of this work is to closely analyze Francisco de Lemos since his arrival in Coimbra until 1822, the year of his death, focusing primarily on key points and his network of influences.
