ABSTRACT
Regional como opção, regional como prisão: trajetórias artísticas no modernismo pernambucano (2022) by Eduardo Dimitrov, focuses on the artists from Pernambuco trajectories, between the 1920s and 1970s, to understand, considering events, agents and institutions, the constitution of a regionalist “ruler” that became a legitimation parameter for artists and its works. The review dwells on how artists and other agents developed strategies to deal with these conventions, highlighting how this problem reverberates in contemporary production.
