EDITORIAL

With this issue (Volume 10, Number 1) we are opening the tenth volume of the IBRACON Structures and Materials Journal, with ten articles on concrete structures and materials. The first article discusses the economic viability of ultra-high performance fiber reinforced concrete applied to a wind tower for a 5 MW turbine. The second article deals with the influence of coarse aggregate on shear resistance of self-consolidating concrete beams. A numerical analysis of steel-concrete composite structures with nonlinear behavior is the topic of the third article. Tools to evaluate damage in concrete affected by alkaliaggregate reaction are described in the fourth article. The next article draws on the thermal insulation capacity of blocks with EVA waste for green roofs. Adherence between steel bars and lightweight concrete with EPS beads is analyzed in the sixth article. The seventh article presents an experimental analysis to evaluate the concrete contribution to the shear strength in beams without shear reinforcement. The eighth article reports an investigation on reinforced concrete plates and shells with skew reinforcement whose directions are not aligned with the principal internal forces. The ninth article is a compendium on intumescent paint and its main features regarding chemical composition, thermophysical properties and performance as a fire-retardant material. This issue closes with an article on recommendations for the calculation of the column-base connection by socket according to ABNT NBR 9062:2006.

All articles in this issue result from original researches, and were evaluated by reviewers with recognized competence in the corresponding areas.

We are pleased to announce that the IBRACON Structures and Materials Journal has been classified as B1 by CAPES/QUALIS. We acknowledge the dedication of all the community, authors, reviewers and readers, for this important achievement.
