This essay explores the changes in the so-called ideology of labor, from the classic Protestant work ethic, passing through the hedonism of consumer society to the current reformulation of this ideology in a society in crisis. It emphasizes that the modifications occur both in the form and content of this ideology, which stimulates an analysis of its relationship with social reality.
