The purpose of this article is to reflect on liberty, based on the concepts of power relations in Michel Foucault. It analyzes documents presented in interviews, articles or organized in books, as well as courses at the Collège de France given by Foucault. Analytical elements about liberty are found in this material from this author who gave strong emphasis to the study of power relations. The understanding of liberty, in Foucaultian cartography, presents itself as a strategic possibility for the confrontation of power relations, which operate as mobile devices enmeshed in all spaces of social life in capitalist society.
