Abstract:
This paper is about violence, sometimes as a symptom, some as a condition, and the central position it takes in production and reproduction of contemporary sociability. Based on theoretical research, the text presents the issue in its complexity and problematizes hegemonic conceptions of structural violence, and proposes a reconceptualization of it in the sense of understanding violence as modus operandi of patriarchal-racist-capitalist society and, in the same vein, as a structural and structuring phenomenon of social relations. The reflections also indicate the relevance of a critical approach towards structural violence as a theoretical-political path through the connections and plurality it facilitates, with a view to denature ongoing violence and, therefore, strengthen various struggles and resistance to it.
