Economic Crisis, Class Struggle and Social Work in Brazil

Abstract:

The purpose of this text is to analyze the economic crisis in Brazil since 2011, indicating its social and political impacts, particularly its consequences for an intensification of the class struggle in the country. It also addresses the restorative agenda that the dominant classes are imposing for the resolution of the crisis. In light of this economic and political situation, the article also reflects on the conciliatory ideological and political tendencies traditionally found in social work, and how the Federal Social Work Council offers a strategic alternative for the insertion of the profession in the Brazilian reality through the theme proposed for the day of the social worker of 2017: In the class struggle there is no tie - Social Workers: professionals in defense of democratic liberties and social rights. To do so, a study was conducted of bibliographic and documentary sources.
