Subjetividade, tempo e psicanálise

The brief psychotherapies remit us, in an inexorable way, to an indagation about the existing complex relations between the registers of subjectivity and the present time, for questioning a certain conception of analytic experience, wich constitued itself along the history of psychoanalysis and institued itself as rule in different psychoanalytic traditions. The psychoanalytic process demanded not only a long time but also very frequent weely sessions. These factors would articulate intimately, as if they were two sides of the same coin, in which the long time establishes a relation of foundation with the analytic experience.

The conception that all and any clinical practice that doesn’t happen in accordance with such parameters would be nothing more than psychotherapy, even if conducted by a psychoanalyst, needs to be revised and questioned. This article enquires about the conditions of possibility of analytic experience that these clinical practices take us to, in an infallible way. The brief psychotherapies have been employed for some decades as new therapeutic possybilities in the fields of psychiatry and clinical psychology, mainly for economical reasons and for a crucial transformation of the relation of the individualities with the time, imposing, inevitably, a new reading of the psychoanalytic act, in which it can and should be depurated from its traditional normative marks.

The questioning of psychoanalysis in post-modernity and its preterition on behalf of other clinical practices remit unequivocally to a refusal of a mechanism of hearing which opposes itself to the imminence of the action and of the decision, that the acceleration of the present time, on the other hand, imposes us. Freud, sensitive to the variations of the demand, already acknowledged the normative and arbitrary dimension of the number of sessions, valorizing its intensity in detriment of its longivity, even taking into consideration the mechanism of resistance.
