This article aims to investigate the meta-psychological notion of helplessness (Hilflosigkeit), seeking to elevate it to the status of concept. The condition of the subject’s existence in the civilization is supported by a condition of psyche helplessness. The Freudian message is that coping with helplessness is fundamental, and a ‘management of helplessness’ is necessary either through creative destinies (its acceptance) or through fateful destinations (its avoidance).
