Are the recent advances in psychopathology in the 19th century? A return to William James and his "theory of emotion"

The author of this article discusses some of the main elements present in the "Theory of emotions", by William James. Among them, the following stand out: 1) Inversion of the order conceived by common sense in what concerns the subjective perception of emotions. 2) Investigation of the borderline between what are usually considered the domains of the physical and the mental. 3) Introduction of matters related to a theory of the mind. 4) Suggestion of a new way to classify emotions, according to the pragmatic method.
