This article looks at Freud from a Lacanian point of view, in order to stress Freud’s writings in both the moral and the drive aspects of the uperego. The article starts off with Freud’s concept of the superego and then proceeds to The Economic Problem of Masochism (1924). The result can then be seen in the text of 1924, where Sade’s articulation of the drive is taken up in comparison with Kant’s moral perspective.
