Symposium Materia 2010: a Materia journal's event
On the second semester of 2008 a world crisis showed up. This has led to the decision of not holding the Symposium Materia in 2009, which proved to be a proper decision. Several scientific congresses scheduled to be held in 2009 in Latin America and in other regions have experienced serious problems concerning the participation of their regular public. Government agencies and enterprises that usually contribute to these events presented a more conservative behavior. The 2009 Brazilian GNP did not grow, such as those of other countries from the continent, whereas Mexicos GNP presented significant drop.
However, 2010 presents itself in a well different way. In Brazil there are prospects for a GNP growth of about 6% and a similar situation is presented by other countries of the continent, mainly Uruguay and Peru. This will lead the governmental agencies and the private companies to recover their investment actions on activities of science and technology, including the organization of congresses.
We have scheduled to hold the XII version of the Symposium Materia on October 2010, in Rio de Janeiro, as presented in the website: http://www.labh2.coppe.ufrj.br/materia2010. This will be a congress of the Materia Journal community and I request your support to and your participation at the event and will be grateful for any suggestions and contributions to the organization.
