Passifloraceae in the environmental protection area of Belém, Pará, Brazil

The aim of this study is to survey and describe the Passifloraceae species from the Environmental Protection Area of Belém (EPA- Belém). Passifloraceae is represented in the area by two genera and a total of 13 species: Dilkea, (D. johannesii) and Passiflora, (P. acuminata, P. auriculata, P. araujoi, P. ceratocarpa, P. foetida, P. nitida, P. glandulosa, P. picturata, P. quandrangularis, P. serratodigitata, P. tholozanii and P. vespertilio). A new occurrence of P. ceratocarpa is recorded for the state of Mato Grosso. The presence of a corona with three sets of filaments is reported as a new diagnostic feature of P. glandulosa. Additional studies are required in order to expand our knowledge of Passifloraceae in the Amazon region.
