Dalechampia (Acalyphoideae, Euphorbiaceae) in Pernambuco (Brazil)

Abstract

The interspecific limits of several taxa of Dalechampia were analyzed and clarified. Fourteen species were recognized for the genus, 10 of them endemic to Brazil. Most species are widely distributed and recorded in several sub-regions of the Pernambuco state, occurring mainly in the Zona da Mata and Agreste, in sunny environments. The most used characters for differentiation of species were the shape of leaf, stylar column, and bracteal stipules, plus number of pistillate sepals. In this work, keys for identification, descriptions, comments about morphological affinities and geographical distribution, and illustrations are provided.
