ABSTRACT
The taxonomy and conservation of Bauhinia ser. Aculeatae is part of the treatment of Leguminosae Cercideae for the state of Rio de Janeiro. The description of the flowering material of B. albicans is presented and illustrated for the first time, while this endemic species of coastal Rio de Janeiro has been categorized as vulnerable. A description of B. affinis, regionally extinct in Rio de Janeiro, is also presented.
