Exemplos de diferentes tipos de visitas a flores e de comportamentos de uso impróprio de recursos florais. Visitas legítimas de Polybia sericea a Gonioanthela hilariana (a), Augochloropsis cyanea a Oxypetalum sublanatum (b), e Glossophaga soricina a Encholirium horridum (c). Notar que visitas legítimas não necessariamente acarretam em polinização, como no exemplo da visita a O. sublanatum (b), na qual não ocorreu deposição ou retirada de polínias, caracterizando pilhagem de néctar. Visitas ilegítimas de Apis mellifera (d) e Strymon megarus (e) a E. horridum, caracterizando pilhagem de pólen e néctar, respectivamente. Nestes casos, A. mellifera visitava cada antera individualmente para a coleta de pólen, sem tocar no estigma posicionado no plano central, o mesmo resultado da visita por S. megarus, que abordava a flor por sua base, apoiando as pernas na parte dorsal das pétalas e introduzindo a tromba em espaços entre os filetes em sua porção basal. Visita ilegítima de Trigona spinipes para coleta de pólen em Edmundoa lindenii (f), em que usualmente mastigam as anteras ainda fechadas para acessar o recurso, caracterizando roubo de pólen. Visitas ilegítimas de Xylocopa sp. (g) e Hesperidae sp. (h) em Salvia sellowiana, caracterizando, respectivamente, roubo primário e roubo secundário de néctar, já que a abelha danifica a corola para acessar o néctar, sendo a abertura aproveitada por outros visitantes como borboletas. (h) in Salvia sellowiana, characterizing respectively primary and secondary robbery of nectar: the bee damages the corolla to access the nectar and the opening is used by other visitors as butterflies.
