Perceptions of users and health workers on the deployment of welcoming reception in a health centre in Porto Alegre, Brazil

INTRODUCTION: This study boards the uses and the senses about the user embracement in the organization and redefinition of the attention processes in oral health. OBJECTIVE: Assess the perception of users and health workers of the Centro de Extensão Universitária da Vila Fátima (CEUVF) on the deployment of welcoming reception to oral health services, through a qualitative approach. METHODOLOGY: It question is a qualitative inquiry with 5 users and 5 professionals of the Centro de Extensão Universitária da Vila Fátima (CEUVF) - PUCRS - a teaching and health unity linked to the public service of Porto Alegre. Through semi-structured interviews and subsequent content analysis, it was aimed to describe and evaluate the perceptions of users and health workers about the use of welcoming reception in front of the signs-concepts such as: access, universality, resolutivity, humanization, integrality and redirection of the attention model. RESULT: The analysis of the implementation of the welcoming reception revealed the obstacles and difficulties reported by participants themselves. There are difficulties in ensuring universal access and resoluteness guaranteed by the host. The welcoming reception meant a change in the health care provided in CEUVF, more humane and comprehensive.
