Shalom Editions: authorship and transnational circulation of charismatic Catholicism

Abstract: The proposal of this article is the analysis of a specific set of books produced as training material by the Shalom Catholic Community, both for its members and for the external public. In order to do so, it will take as corpus of analysis the set of books written by the co-founder of the said Community, Emmir Nogueira. Articulating Catholic theological thought, the moral thinking of the Charismatic Renewal and the orientations of conduct, we present the hypothesis that the conjunction of these systems of orientation conveyed in the texts is based on a transnational project of Christianization of civility, according to the sociologist Norbert Elias. Founded in Fortaleza, the Community, through its publications (especially those of its co-founder), consolidates a catechizing enterprise through ideas that circulate in several countries where it operates, on five continents.
