Ecumenical practices of methodist women in Voz Missionária (Missionary Voice magazine)

The ecumenical practices of women in Brazilian Methodism gained prominence when American missionaries began to organize their schools in Brazil. To organize their s schools teachers, principals and monitors had to establish dialogue and political deals with Presbyterians, Lutherans, and also with the Roman Apostolic. They talked and convinced politicians of various churches. They sang, prayed and preached together. Methodist women did it in schools and also in philanthropic institutions. In the 1960s and 1970s ecumenical practices of these women took to the pages of the Missionary Voice magazine. The paper aims to present a narrative about these practices and discuss the discursive forms adopted for reaching a wider audience.
