Religion and construction of social equality: the centrality of the base in Frei Betto and its political-theological sense

Abstract: In this article, we will study the political position of Frei Betto by the centrality of the base, analyzing his passage in the Lula government in the years 2003 and 2004 and some of his pronouncements in activities and events in which he participated in Cuba in the context of the discussion on the future of socialism from the point of view of a socialism understood as popular and based on broader paradigms than that of the production of economic goods. In his historical-spatial movement, we identified some of the characteristics of his popular-emancipatory vision that has an analytical foundation at the same time secular and political-theological.
