Aspectos raciais dos "megas" e da cardiopatia na doença de Chagas crônica

The study of 724 patients with chronic chagas's disease showed that the cardiac faiture is more frequent and appears earlier in negroes patients when compared to white patients. The occurrence of "megas" was slightly lover in the negroes but the difference was not statisticaiiy significant. The higher frequency of cardiac faiture in the negrões seems to be caused by biological characteristics of the conective tissue which respond to trypanossomiasis with a more severe degree of fibrosis. These findings agree with other reports on Chagas's disease in which it is admitted that the "megas" are chiefly the result of dennervation and cardiac faiture is principally caused by infiammation with myocardial fibrosis.
