Leishmaniose tegumentar alviericana na Ilha Grande, Rio de Janeiro: III. reservatórios silvestres e comensais

Of the 203 domestic and wild animais examined in Praia Vermelha, during a study of an outbreak of mucocutaneous leishmaniasis 2 cases of Proechimus dimidiatus were found with hipocromic lesions in the ear extremities and one case of Rattus norvergicus with a back ulcer. Histopathology has shown the presence of Leishmania sp. in the three specimens.
