The revolution of 1964 and the military movement in paraná: a view from the barracks

This article provides a narrative of the 1964 military coup, as viewed from the barracks. Since the coup was a national movement, it sometimes becomes difficult to look at its regional political and military aspects. Here, however, we seek a local focus on the political process, taking the state of Paraná as case in point. This paper presents a summary of the military structure and the position of officials who served in the state's military organizations. The dynamics of the coup are described from the perspective of what went on in the barracks and presents, through interviews, the point of view of three generals who had active participation in the movement.
