A study, giving evidence of inadequate filling-in of file cards used in epidemiological investigation of schistosomiasis, was made. Based on this study a guide to correct filing was prepared and educational activities were developed to avoid the above mentioned failures. Results showed that by means of training, the percentage of mistakes decreased to an appreciable degree. From 20.1% of incorrectness before the training period, the percentage fell to 8.3%, showing that the quality of the data can be improved by adequate personnel training.
