Hemoglobinic value in school children of county of S. Paulo (Brazil)

With the aim of obtaining data to the evaluation of the nutritive state of scholarships, the Health Scholar Service of S. Paulo City, did a laboratorial inquire in a scholar population compromised in 20 of a total number of 2,440 scholars of a primary school located in a peripheral district of the S. Paulo City Brazil. The method used consisted in a fotocolorimetric dosage of hemoglobin, collected by finger puncture, in fotocolorimeter made by Ames Laboratory of Brazil. The mean hemoglobinic value found was 13.0 g%: the made mean beeing 13.0 g% and the female one 12.99 g%. The minimal and maximal values were 7.5 g% and 17.0 g% respectively. For better ordenation of the results and with accordance with the value obtained, the scholars were distributed in three groups. 1) The first one comprising scholars with hemoglobinic value till 10.99 g%. 2) The second with values between 11.0 g% and 12.99 g% and 3) The third above 13.0 g%. In the first group were find 2.3% of the scholars; in the second 36.2% of the scholars and in the third 61.4%. From the data above mentioned it is verified that 96.0% of the scholars presented hemoglobinic value at the level of 11.0 g% or more. It is concluded from the data obtained that the nutritive state of the scholars examined, was good.
