PLANT REGENERATION OF 'RANGPUR' LIME (Citrus limonia Osbeck) AND 'CLEÓPATRA' MANDARIN (Citrus reshni Hort.) THROUGH PROTOPLASTS OF CELL SUSPENSION

The present research describes the regeneration of 'Cleópatra' mandarin and 'Rangpur' lime plants from cell suspension protoplasts. Nucelar calli were induced on a medium containing BAP and maintained on growth regulator free medium. Protoplasts were isolated from embryogenic suspension and plated at a concentration of 2 X 105 protoplasts.ml-1, on agarose droplets. The MT medium with gibberellic acid and coconut water was efficient to stimulate somatic embryo conversion. Rooted plants acclimation had low efficiency. Seventeen mandarin plants and eight lime plants were obtained.
