Aluminum levels and the development of citrus rootstocks in nutrient solution: I. Biometric parameters

To study the influence of different levels of aluminum on the development of citrus rootstocks of Rangpur lime and Swingle citrumelo, in nutrient solution, an experiment was carried out in a greenhouse at Botucatu, SP, Brazil. The treatments followed a completely randomized experimental design, with 3 replicates, distributed in split-splots. The levels of aluminum were: 0; 7.5; 15; 22.5 and 30 mg L-1, in the form of AlCl3 6.H2O, added to the nutrient solution. Biometric parameters were evaluated and the results showed that Swingle citrumelo was more sensitive to aluminum, and that starting from 7.5 mg L-1, there were reductions in growth and development of the plants, while the Rangpur lime rootstock was more tolerant for aluminum.
