Apical cutting to uniformize the harvesting of ‘tango’ flowers

To evaluated the efficacy of apical cutting in reducing the number of harvestings of Solidago canadensis, the following aspects were evaluated: average height of plants on the first day of harvesting; average number of branches harvested per plant; and average of dry matter harvested per branch. The average height of the plant on the first day of harvesting was the only significant difference verified. It was not possible to reduce the number of necessary harvestings per plant. Evidence suggests that it is necessary to reduce the genetic variability of the population to reduce the number of harvestings of Solidago canadensis flowers.
