ABSTRACT

This article reflects on the relapse phenomenon through the analysis of interviews with 100 crack users and 100 family members, carried out as part of the research project ‘The reality of crack in Santa Cruz do sul.’ In the analysis of discourse meanings, relapses have had multiple meanings, contrasting with the idea of mere reproduction of what was lived, being part of the cycle internment detoxication intoxication internment. Based on Psychoanalysis, we propose to understand relapses as an experience of repetition with symbolical meanings, which signal psychological conflicts that claim for attention supported by Humanization Policy. The interpretation of subjects’ experiences withoutmeanings may worsen the conditions of care offer, being obstacles to the necessary expansion of clinics.
