The hospitalization of users of alcohol and other drugs in the general hospital

ABSTRACT

The article aims to analyse the hospitalization of users of alcohol and other drugs in the General Hospital, through medical records of patients aged 28 and 67 years that made use of alcohol or other drugs for more than fourteen years and had been hospitalized at least twice.

The results reveal gaps in health services where the hospital ends up being seen as a final treatment for drug use, however, after the deadline of isolation, withdrawal and detoxification, the patient returns to the family and social life is necessary to intensity actions working on strengthening health patients for this “return”.
