Ethical conflicts in a population survey on oral health

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper was to identify and analyze ethical conflicts present in the choices and decisions in the context of the National Survey of Oral Health (2010 SBBrasil). This is a qualitative study, whose data were collected through an interview with 12 members from the Managing Group and from the Advisory Technical Committee of the Health Ministry, in addition to two coordinators. The Collective Subject Discourse technique was used. Five main ideas were identified. The ethical conflicts analyzed in this paper referred, essentially, to health professionals in charge of data collection, such as the divergence of work duty versus professional autonomy.
