Use of illicit drugs by students of a public university of pedagogy

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to profile the use of illicit drugs by students of undergraduate education in the Center of Education of the Federal University of Espírito Santo. We conducted a quantitative, exploratory, descriptive and transversal study. The study population consisted of students enrolled in that course in the second half of 2010. The questionnaire used was the one proposed by the National Secretariat about Drug Policy. Was found a higherdrug use in the lives of tranquilizers and anxiolytics (15%) and amphetamines (7.8%). The male students use more marijuana than women, as well as students who reported having no religion. This study found that marijuana, inhalants and solvents, tranquilizers and amphetamines, were the main drugs of choice for students of graduation.
